  Biography Statement
 
b. 7 October 1953
Living in Cape Town, South Africa


Self-taught artist, utilising the techniques of the masters to learn the skill of oil, pastel, acrylic
and watercolour painting. Body of work is extensive, dating from the 1980’s.

In 2002, completed a sculpture course with the New Age Bronze Foundry in Simonstown and
created a series of small sculptures.

In 2003 added computer graphics to the mix of media used. The CG techniques include
straight ‘painting’, using various software with a tablet and pen/airbrush and a mix of creative
methods, such as: sketching; photography; morphing and fractal elements.

Current work is establishing the artist as an expressionist and symbolist.
Inspired by the hidden images in nature, everyday objects and in real-space, dream-space and
cyber-space.

In 2008 Polkey was accepted to the guest gallery of the Museum of Computer Art (MOCA)
